20th Year Anniversary for the Garden City Flyers!

This year’s end bank balance was $8,053 including the PayPal account.

Coursework for this year is below-

Blue Mountain- We are replacing the white teepads on holes 1, 2, 5, 12, 14. We are not going to replace the teepads on hole 6, or hole 18. The first phase of logging will start this summer, but no confirmation as of April 07. Starting on hole 13, going through hole 2 there will be some commercial logging. The forest service will make sure that we are included in making the final decisions on what trees get cut down, but there are plenty of trees they will just cut off of the fairways. The second phase is hand thinning. Smaller trees on holes 13 through 2, and potentially the other side of the course as well. There is a possibility of them doing some brush burns as well but they will stay away from the teepads. The course will not be closed for tournament play, but it may be closed to casual play while commercial logging is happening. We were supposed to get a resurfaced road as well as a parking lot where hole 6 currently is. The FS has designated the road resurfacing (not necessarily paving) is a high priority for them. It was scheduled to happen this summer, but unconfirmed as of 4/7. Parking lot project has been shelved for the time being.

More course realignment will happen once logging and thinning is complete. The current plan is to move the basket on hole 15 to the ZTO position. Then add two holes between 15 and 16. We would add a third tee to hole 16, as well.

Pattee Canyon- Pattee canyon will open on July 1st. There is a possibility of it opening early but the forest service might not be able to make that happen for us. New tee signs will go in with very basic info(hole #, ### feet). These signs will have to wait until the teepads go in at Blue mountain. So get out and help! We are approved for a sign including a course map as well as disc golf etiquette. We also plan to replace some of the rubber tee pads with less used tee pads.

Fort MIssoula- We have a plan to create a memorandum of understanding with the parks and rec. We never had an agreement of when baskets go in/out, ect. We’ll work with P&R and FMRP to formalize our user agreement.

New Courses-

Frenchtown is on pause at the moment.

Schmautz Park proposal got denied due to resources. Matt did go have a meeting with the county after this, and they seem to be in favor of a new course, we just need the right park.

Target Range school will have a new pitch and putt style course.

Gilman Gauntlet is a private course that will have a tournament, and he wants the course to be available for GCF disc golfers.

Highlands Golf Club has the potential of having a course up this summer, with carts and tee times and possibly a tournament as well.

GCF Bag tag will start on April 24th at 5:30 pm. Ace pot will remain the same, the $1, $3, $5 system.

Folf in the parks will happen again this year, they take count of the people that show up so make sure to check in.
